The Plan...

August is a WRAP! I was fortunate enough to set four new running PR's this month: 2x weekly mileage distances, overall monthly distance, and run streak, which sadly died on Sunday (I had a bad sinus headache all day).

* Weekly mileage PR: 41.3 miles (16 - 22 August 2020).

* Monthly mileage PR: 168.15 miles (old record was 109.4 set back in April 2011).
* Run Streak: 30 days / 164.05 miles (31 July - 29 August 2020).

I think I'm done with run streaks, lol (maybe until the next run club monthly challenge). But I'm excited to announce that I have signed up for three major races... Yes! I am back on the race circuit! Due to covid, these are all virtual events. And they are all multi-race challenges. I've always wanted to do these... Typically, they are all run in the same week/weekend as the big races... The race promoters have given us the time to finish all of the events virtually from home (within a specified window).

The races and challenges are as follows:

2020 Cincinnati Flying Pig "3-Way with extra cheese" challenge (mmmmm, Skyline chili ðŸ˜‹):

  • - The 26th mile (1 mile)
  • - 5k
  • - 10k
  • - half marathon

 2020 Trinity River Run 3 race challenge:

  • - 5k
  • - 10k
  • - half marathon

 2020 St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 4 race challenge:

  • - 5k
  • - 10k
  • - half marathon
  • - marathon (to be run on Dec 5th)

Cincy Flying Pig is where it all started for me. I ran my first half marathon there 10 years ago... I returned the following year and set a new half marathon PR and broke the 2 hour mark for the first time.

Dallas' Trinity River run is literally right in my front yard... I plan to run that in person (whenever covid goes away).

And St Jude's... well... You all know what they have done for children's cancer research. But you probably didn't know that Dr James Geller (one of master minds behind saving Brandon's life, especially after his relapse) started his Hematology/Oncology medical career there as a Fellow back in 2004. I run the St Jude's race to honor him and those responsible for saving our Son's life. And hopefully we can raise funds for St. Jude's and for children's cancer awareness...

Fundraising details will be forthcoming. My fundraising goal is $250, where all proceeds go to help St Jude's Children's Research Hospital save lives... So many people helped us through Brandon's journey; we hope to pay it forward and help others...

Stay safe all

Happy running and God bless!
